Unveiling the Meaning of the Word Amānī and Its Derivatives in the Qur'an and Their Relevance to Social Media Reality Distortion
Keywords:
Amānī, distortion of reality, encyclopedic semantics, social media, wishful thinkingAbstract
Social media is a platform that displays various information, both political information or even users' daily activities. So that social media not only has a positive impact, but also has a bad influence on its users, including the distorted reality due to information that leads too much opinion and often changes the user's view. This concept is closely related to the concept of the word Amānī in the Qur'an. The method used in this study is descriptive analysis and qualitative research, with data analysis techniques using encyclopedic semantic methods to study word concepts in the Qur'an. The purpose of this study is to uncover the basic meaning and relational meaning of the word Amānī in the Qur'an, as well as to find out the concept of the word Amānī in the Qur'an and its relevance related to the influence of social media on the distortion of reality. The basic meaning of the word Amānī found in the dictionary is destiny, but when the form of the word is different, it will mean wishful thinking. The pre-Qur'anic relational meaning of the word Amānī shows a connotation that tends to be positive, namely courage, ideals, hopes and wishful thinking. Meanwhile, in the Qur'anic period, it shows negative connotations, namely wishful thinking, deceit, envy, Satan's temptations, stupidity, and semen. So that from this meaning the concept of the word Amānī is formed, namely, the source and cause of wishful thinking, the result of wishful thinking, and the outward form of wishful thinking. This concept is very relevant to the impact that social media has on the distortion of reality.
