Implementing Qur'an 30:41 in Waste Management: A Case Study of Crapco

Waste is one of the biggest environmental problems today. Poor management pollutes the ecosystem, while human awareness in overcoming it is still low. QS Ar-Rūm verse 41 emphasizes that damage on land and sea is the result of human actions. As Muslims, this verse must be implemented in everyday life, as is done by the Crapco company through its sustainable waste management program. This study aims to determine the interpretation of QS Ar-Rūm verse 41 according to commentators, the reception of Crapco management, and its implementation in waste management. The research approach used is the Living Qur'an with a case study method. Data were obtained through observation, interviews, and documentation, with primary data in the form of Crapco's reception and secondary data from tafsir books. Analysis was carried out through the stages of reduction, presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results show that classical commentators interpret damage as famine and the cessation of rain due to sin, while contemporary commentators interpret it as ecosystem damage. For Crapco, this verse is a warning from God to humans not to damage the environment. Crapco's reception is influenced by the social context, that environmental damage is a human responsibility. Their evaluation emphasized the importance of preserving the earth through waste management. In its implementation, QS Ar-Rūm verse 41 serves as the moral foundation for Crapco's vision and mission, which is based on three pillars: education (direct and digital outreach), technology (social engineering applications), and economics (point incentives). This approach creates a sustainable waste management ecosystem as a concrete manifestation of the verse's implementation.
