Academic e-Living Qur'an: Platform Ecology and Evaluative Reception of Qur'anic Studies Students toward the Ministry of Religious Affairs' Digital Qur'an Platform

This study investigates the position of the Ministry of Religious Affairs' Digital Qur'an Platform (Qur'an Kemenag) within the digital Al-Qur'an platform ecology used by students of Qur'anic and Exegetical Studies (IAT) at UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung, Cohort 2023. The study aims to identify the platform's ecological position, explore the dimensions of student reception, and analyze how LPMQ's institutional authority shapes that reception. Using a mixed-methods design that combines interpretive phenomenological analysis (IPA) and netnography—with in-depth interviews of eight informants and a structured survey of 22 respondents—the study identifies three layered reception dimensions: informative, performative, and evaluative. Evaluative reception, defined as the capacity to critically assess translation quality, tafsir, and platform authority using the standards of 'ulum al-Qur'an, emerges as the distinctive dimension of the academic interpretive community. The platform occupies an academic-referential position, yet is chosen as the primary platform by only 31.8% of respondents due to a fragmented ecology and limited affordances for daily worship. LPMQ's authority generates three reading positions—dominant, negotiated, and oppositional—with direct PPM program participation as the most significant factor in forming deliberative trust. The study proposes the concept of academic e-Living Qur'an as a new sub-category enriching Rafiq's (2021) framework with an academic evaluative layer unique to Qur'anic scholarly communities.
