This article examines the professional practice experience (PPM) of Qur’anic Sciences and Tafsir (IAT) students at the Lajnah Pentashihan Mushaf Al-Qur’an (LPMQ) of the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia. Insufficient integration between Qur’anic higher education curricula and national religious institutions has created a gap in students’ professional readiness, particularly in specialized fields such as mushaf studies, Qur’anic accessibility, and manuscript philology. Employing a qualitative case study approach through reflective documentation and participatory observation, this study maps student engagement across three main tasks: vocabulary inventory in the Ministry’s Tahlili Tafsir, identification of legal verses (ayat ahkam), and correction of the Ministry’s Tafsir based on scholarly input from KH. Ahmad Bahauddin Nursalim (Gus Baha). Students also participated in expert lectures covering Qur’an in Sign Language, mushaf authentication, Braille Qur’an, philological studies, and the principles of Qur’anic translation. The findings demonstrate that the PPM program at LPMQ significantly expanded students’ academic competencies beyond formal curricula, notably in mushaf standardization (‘ilm al-‘add al-āy), Qur’anic accessibility for persons with disabilities, and the scholarly infrastructure of Qur’anic preservation. The program also cultivated professional work ethics, institutional literacy, and critical appreciation for the complex processes undergirding Indonesia’s Qur’anic authority. This study contributes to the understanding of PPM as an effective bridge between Qur’anic higher education and national religious institutions, while recommending formal curriculum integration of LPMQ’s specialized domains into IAT programs nationwide.
